HUGO BOSS INFLICT HUGE DAMAGES ON CROATIAN SUPPLIER

Six months after popular German fashion house Hugo Boss terminated its contract with their long term Croatian partners, Renimo, for no apparent reason in February 2012, articles of clothing from the luxury brand have surprisingly been found on the shelves of Slovenian suppliers Sportina.

Renimo until February this year had been partners with the German fashion giants for 16 years, operating two Hugo Boss stores in Zagreb and Split.

Remino owner Miljenko Renic, who says Hugo Boss sales made up 80 per cent of his business, was shocked when their contract was termintated by Hugo Boss.

"Hugo Boss stopped delivering goods in September 2011 and after several months of the German manufacturers refusing to explain the reasons it culminated in the ultimate termination of the contract in February 2012. It cost 30 jobs at the small domestic company, both shops closed, and the German company gave no reason at all for the termination of the contract," said Renic.

Six months later it turns out that earlier speculation in the media that Hugo Boss terminated their contract with Renimo to go into partnership with Slovenian company Sportina group, which sells Hugo Boss products in Slovenia and other countries in the region, was true, despite Sportina denying it at the time.

Renic says that a questionable arrangement between Hugo Boss and Sportina must have already been in place because goods, which are now in Sportina stores, have to be ordered six months in advance.

Therefore, goods that are currently in Sportina stores were ordered at the same time the contract with the Croatian respresentatives was suddenly terminated.

"After 16 years of successful cooperation, Renimo is facing bankruptcy because of non-delivery of goods and the contract abruptly being terminated. The multimillion-dollar lawsuit before the German courts is no longer under our control now because of legal provisions for bankruptcy cases. Maybe Hugo Boss calculated that. All that remains is a private prosecution claim from private funds after the company entered into a signed contract. All documents and contracts in the proceedings before the German court will be made public so the public will be able to bring their own judgment, " concluded Renic.
