Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik says the Serb-run entity will end the political logjam over Bosnia’s institutions immediately if there is sufficient compromise
Milorad Dodik said Bosnia-Herzegovina’s top decision-making body, the Council of Ministers, could be formed immediately if the Bosnian Serbs got the ministeries they sought.
Dodik said the Bosnian Serb entity, the Republika Srpska, sought four ministerial positions, including the Foreign Ministry.
Dodik said he had no confidence in a Bosniak [Muslim] performing the duties of Bosnian foreign minister, as he did not want a repeat of the situation with the current Foreign Minister, Sven Alkalaj, who he said was going around “badmouthing the Republika Srpska”.
Dodik said a future consensus lay in respect for the a rotation principle and for "the fact that Bosnia-Herzegovina consists of two entities and three peoples”.
According to reports, the Bosnian Serb president has called a meeting of the two most powerful parties in the Serb entity, his own Alliance of Independent Social Democrats, SNSD, and the Serb Democratic Party, SDS, on September 2.
