Session of the Board for Candidacy of Sarajevo for European Capital of Culture 2014 was held in Sarajevo on Sunday.
Member of the European Parliament and Chair of the EP’s Board for Culture and Education, Doris Pack, also participated in the work of the Board.
Pack received the request for nomination from representatives of the authorities in Sarajevo, after which European Parliament adopted a resolution on May 12th, calling on the European institutions to give an extraordinary recognition to Sarajevo as the capital of culture 2014.
Doris Pack stressed in her speech the importance of preparations for this event. She particularly stressed the importance of City of Sarajevo and the values that this nomination will bring to the citizens of Sarajevo and for what Sarajevo represents today as remarkable intercultural center in Europe and worldwide.
"International Centre for Peace" and "Sarajevo Winter Festival" have sent to the European Parliament an application for candidacy of Sarajevo.
