On Thursday, February 24th at 11 a.m a promotion of the action "First aid packages for newly operated breast cancer patients" will be held in Media center in Sarajevo.
These packages will be given to newly operated women, who need special nursing in this period. With this symbolic act we want to support their recovery and let them know they are not alone.
Each package includes a prosthesis,a rubber ball for practicing the hands, powder and cream to nurse the skin after radiation,as well as informative brochures.
The funds for these packages were gathered during last years Race for the cure, held in October in Sarajevo, sponsored and organized by Susan G. Komen i JDC (American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee).
Giving away these first aid packages will also represent the end of the Woman's Health Empowerment Program (WHEP) in BiH,in partnership with organizations across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The distribution of the packages to breast cancer related organizations in BiH had already started.
We urge the representatives of your respected media to attend this activity so women who need help can get informed about this, and similar actions.
The participants of this event will be the head of the office of public affairs of the American embassy, JDC representatives from New York, Budapest and Moscow, presidents of non governmental organizations that deal with breast cancer issues from: Sarajevo, Mostar, Tuzla, East Sarajevo, Gorazde, Bugojno, Jajce and Banja Luka.
